Training Events

All of AASFAA's events will be virtual for the 2020-2021 year and free-of-charge for our members.  We are pleased to partner with our sponsors and other state associations to offer additional trainings throughout the year.

Let's Talk Professional Judgment
Even though professional judgement is not a highly regulated area in financial aid, the year 2020 has provided changes to the rules that once existed giving FAA's even more flexibility to help students.  We have invited panelists to discuss COVID-related changes to Professional Judgement.  The panelists will be discussing: student outreach, income adjustments, and satisfactory academic progress changes.  You might find it interesting how each institution treated the guidance and student issues.  Please join us!

Panelists:

  • Julio Durazo, Pima Community College
  • Karen Emmer, Cochise College
  • Jaclyn Howald, University of Phoenix
  • Christine McGee, University of Phoenix
  • Tim Wolsey, Chandler-Gilbert Community College

Future-Proofing Financial Aid: How to Transition to a 100% Virtual Office
Join us for a conversation with CampusLogic & several of your peers as we discuss how institutions can shift to a virtual FinAid office through the use of technology. We’ll explore how COVID-19 has forced institutions to adapt to a new “virtual” normal, and unpack ways in which your peers have stayed ahead of the pandemic disruption by using technology without sacrificing a personalized student experience. Walk away with an action plan for how you can begin to build a case internally to secure the funding for essential Financial Aid technology.

Presenters:

  • Wendy Papkoff, CampusLogic
  • Lindsey Ohls, Campus Logic
  • Karla Gonzalez, Pima Community College
