Membership Committee Report

Pat Chaplin, Bank of America

We have 115 active AASFAA member institutions. I have worked closely with Onita Clark to synchronize paid member data between the Treasurer’s Access database and the Word database I maintain for use in creating the Resource and Membership Directory. The voting members for each member institution were encouraged to use their update capability for keeping individual membership data current throughout the year. The voting member uses their own reported e-mail address and a password assigned by Membership to log in. The membership form and invoice were updated for data collection for 2002-2003. New and renewal members can download these forms from our web site at www.aasfaa.org.

In late summer, 2001-2002 member institutions received a renewal membership data collection form that was populated with the prior year institutional data and an invoice for the $50 institutional membership fee for 2002-2003. Voting members, if one was designated, received a cover letter with a previously assigned password or instructions to contact me for a password informing them that they could now renew membership via the web and correct, add or delete existing member information. Mailings went out to 125 voting members and non-members in our database. Additional efforts were made to recruit members via phone calls and on-site visits with institutions. We have received 20 additional renewals/new members since our Board meeting in October.

At the Fall Conference, Membership moderated the Thursday morning breakfast session where newcomers to AASFAA were recognized. Committee chairs with larger committees provided brief overviews of their responsibilities and activities encouraging member participation.

The web master has provided Membership with the capability to update, add and delete member data on the web site. The review and update of all individual member information and institutional member data is in the works in preparation for the 2003-2004 annual membership campaign in June/July 2003. Development discussions have been on-going this year with the Technology Committee in preparation for a single membership database that is accessible and maintained on the AASFAA web site by authorized Board and committee members.

Our committee members are: Yolanda Bon, Glendale CC; Judy Frenzen, Citibank; Karen Dowdall, GLHEC.
